About Geese
Geese can be a major problem for commercial businesses. The most common complaint is regarding Canada Geese. These birds can weigh anywhere from three to twenty four pounds and they can be very aggressive. While there are many different subspecies they all look fairly similar. Black necks and heads with white throats and brownish gray bodies and white under their tails.
Most of the time they are looking for a place to nest and lay eggs after they migrate into the United States in the fall. Typically, a female goose will lay an egg every other day during mating season. The season happens in spring and usually lasts about 25 days. The eggs will hatch after 24-32 days of incubation done by both parents at the nest. They are monogamous creatures and very protective of their offspring and mates. They will chase and attack predators whether they are animals or humans.

Common Nesting Areas
Usually, they will nest in an area near water and vegetation because their diet is primarily vegetation and grains. Grass is a common meal but sometimes insects and fish will be consumed by these birds as well. The diet makes areas like golf courses, country clubs, lawns of corporations with fountains and even flower boxes and gardens perfect places to nest. Pastures and parks are also very attractive to them.
Once a nest has been built, they will become very protective of the area. Aggressive birds are a concern for any business and can be responsible for driving people and customers away. They have found urban or inhabited areas to be comfortable because it is easy to find food and there are few predators. They have become a nuisance animal in these areas all across North America. They are protected birds, so any methods used to rid your business of them must be done properly. We have years of experience and we will do a no cost consultation and provide you with an estimate and a plan for moving them off of your commercial property.

Damages from Geese
There are a wide range of damages caused by geese. Everything from very expensive airplane strikes at and around airports to excessive amounts of bacteria filled droppings and terrible noise. They can trample gardens, lawns and golf course greens, and crops. Any vegetation is vulnerable to being torn up or eaten by them as well. If they are nesting near airports they can be a danger as the FAA reports hundreds of strikes associated with geese every year.
Damages are not limited to aesthetics or property, they can also extend into public health. They create large amounts of waste or droppings making walkways and entrances to your business unsightly. The waste contains dangerous bacteria or diseases like E Coli, Histoplasmosis, Salmonella and more.
It can be harmful to water on property as well, including water on golf courses or in fountains that are commonly touched by humans. It is not easy to keep areas clean when these birds are close-by. Constant maintenance would be necessary to keep the mess under control.
